This new release from Memo’s Graines Vagabondes captures the spirit and scents of this storied city. The note especially prominent in Abu Dhabi is the date. A little backstory on the date: it is a sweet fruit that grows primarily in the Middle East and north Africa, The scent of a date leans toward a sweet, almost caramelized aroma. Abu Dhabi’s intrigue from this regional fruit is enhanced by notes of plum, amber, vetiver, saffron, and cardamom.

Another Memo Paris scent to try out is Madurai. Named for a sacred city in Southern India, Madurai’s allure is in no small part due to jasmine sambac. It is known as “Mad Jasmine” for this reason. This white floral scent is as captivating as the story of how Madurai, India got its name (legend has it that the city was named after the drop of divine nectar that fell from Lord Shiva’s hair.) Two different jasmines are used to create this scent. Jasmine sambac is harvested from April to October in Southern India to preserve a greener earthen quality. While the other variety can be found in Egypt with a velvety petal quality.
Madurai is more than a jasmine white floral, but a potent journey through India. One that recalls spiritual and emotional connections to the most populated country in the world. Notes include jasmine sambac, jasmine absolute, turmeric essence, and peach. Also, essences of lemon, bergamot, curcuma, clary sage, tuberose, tagete, sandalwood, and suede accord.
Ithaque is another Memo Paris selection available at LUXSB. Ithaque is named for a mythical (and mystical) island found in the legendary ancient Greek novel Homer’s Odyssey. Nestled in the Ionian sea, Ithaque (or Ithaca), Ulysses made a decade long trek to this wondrous fictitious place. Like that land, Ithaque is a legendary journey on its own. Itaque is part of Memo Paris’s Graines Vagabondes collection.
Ithaque’s main note is bergamot essence. Bergamot is a citrus fruit mostly found in the Mediterranean. The fresh, green, lively quality of bergamot makes it a favorite for scents, especially those for warmer weather seasons. Making an appearance along with bergamot are orange bitter absolute, redcurrant accord, blackcurrant accord, cassis celeste, jasmine absolute, cedarwood extract, and patchouli heart.
Palais Bourbon is another Memo Paris offering. The decisively regal name is that of a French palace named for Duchess Louise-Francoise do Bourbon in 1722.
