Gourmand in its definition is someone who loves to eat and drink, a food connoisseur. Some may think of a foodie to the extreme. And others may think of that relative who loves to eat everything at the Thanksgiving table. Or the phrase "eat, drink, and be merry". The art of being a gourmand is knowing the value of a goof meal, and how to eat well.
In the fragrance sense, gourmand is an olfactory dessert. The perfume is mixed with synthetic (and also real) edible notes for a touch of flavor. There are many notes out there, but a few are honey, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Other more exotic flavors in perfumes include coffee, licorice, and whipped sugar or cotton candy. Sugary sweet, perhaps that perfect sugar rush. These scents are often blended with musks and patchouli to ground them. They can also be partnered with floral notes to combine for an elegant, yet flirty effect. There are all types of intensities in the gourmand family. Good enough to eat, for sure!
