MAISON SYBARITE Opulent Wood is an Eau de Parfum. Inspired by the winery tradition of Sybaris, the perfume unveils intensely flavored grapes, fruit flavors, rich spices and seduce those who have a fondness for opulent smells.

This liqurous, full-body concoction has an unparalleled voluptuous feel. The multifaceted aroma of ylan-ylang counterbalances the plummy sweetness successfully. Warm notes of sandalwood alongside the dry notes of cedarwood create an alluring woody base. The spicy Saffron is added to the oriental accord to further accentuate it and enhance its character.

Don't be fooled by the reviews calling this a cologne, this is an eau de Parfum. It has the quality, projection and lasting power of a top notch Parfum. This fragrance house has not disappointed. This isn't what you expect from a leather and wood scent, in a good way! On the initial spray, the notes of nutmeg, leather, prune and Ylang Ylang pop up to bring a creamy, yet masculine intro. No single note stands out in a bad way, and all the ingredients harmonize into a cohesive blend that is unique. The nutmeg and black pepper add a dimension of spice without it being "hot" or overwhelming. The sandalwood and cedarwood bring the masculine note of leather into a sensual and elegant level. It's reminiscent of oud scents, without the oud note itself. The orange blossom paired with the prune and cardamom give this fragrance a softer, semi sweet (not sugary) edge that offsets the harshness of the leather and woods. This fragrance subverts the expectations of a men's perfume, from one of brute, harsh, one dimensional wood and leather, to one of elegant, complex and intriguing softer masculinity. Four stars for quality, projection, complexity and lasting power, but it's not at the top of my favorite woody, oud scents.
