About the Brand

In 1888, Faîr Parfum was born. Faîr was a huge hit with French high society in 1895. Having regained access to the upper echelons of society, Francis was intent to advance the two causes closest to his heart: workers' rights and protecting traditional perfumery skills. In 1895, Francis established Le Club 1888, a perfume connoisseurs 'private members' club that was the only place where people could buy Francis' sought-after scents. Membership was exclusive and limited. 

Since 1988, Faîr Parfum has been led by Francis' grandson, Phillipe. Himself a master perfumer, Phillipe takes personal charge of designing new perfumes for Le Club members and scours the world for new and exotic ingredients. The Charrier family and the members of Le Club decided that this was the right time to remind the world what an incredible thing a handmade perfume can be. 

After 130 years, the doors of Le Club were pushed ever so slightly ajar. Today, Le Club 1888 still operates in the same way but it now has 3,200 members and an extensive waiting list. Every year, members of Le Club inspire the design of one-off bespoke fragrances. Of these, four at a time are now selected for production. A limited number of each bottle is produced and put onto general sale, worldwide.

I feel like I'm wearing such a exquisite perfume. It's a sweet floral and very addictive.

You definitely get the pepper not right off the bat. Then the hint of cardamom, which washes away into the violet. A lovely and professional scent that does smell very "French."

You can really smell the bottom notes in this perfume, Spicy

This scent, for me, was too overpowering with the pepper. I've realized that scents with pepper or bergamot are not appealing to my nose. My husband said it more powdery. It still has appealing notes, would be good for you if you like pepper/spice.

Many reviewers have described this as a floral. My impression is of a woody, peppery blend. Definitely an acquired taste. When I first smelled it, it reminded me of the scent of Pears soap. The dry-down is gorgeous: deep and musky.

I love it. Really enjoyed this scent all day. Yet it was not over powering. I could see myself getting this again when I work through what I have.
