Butterfly by Hanae Mori is an Eau de Toilette. Hanae Mori, the great lady of Japanese fashion and Parisian haute couture, introduced this fragrance in 1996 and the subtle composition of scents make it unlike any other. The fragrance is a rare blend of berries and flowers, with a distinctive tone of strawberries and almond, giving an illusion of vanilla.

Unfortunately this is not the Hanae Mori Butterfly that I usually wear. (I thought it was.) It must be the EDP that I usually get. This is rather boring compared to that, which is very gormand and sweet (probably too sweet for a lot of people.) It's not a bad scent, but just doesn't hold a candle to the EDP.

Five Star Favorite. Subtle and elegant skin scent with excellent longevity, this has been my signature for years. vanilla in the way that marzipan pastry seems to be, its the almond. trends change Butterfly is timeless beauty count on it.

I really enjoy this scent. The name fits it perfectly, it's a very light and delicate scent. It's very pretty and soft.

Just received this yesterday, and it has to be my fave so far! I could not believe this fragrance has no vanilla in it, since that is the main note I get from it. Will definitely order more!

I love this so much. It's so delicious smelling. Soft yet lasting. I have not been able to break away from this one same perfume I wore for over 20 years. Until I tried this and a couple others. I am extremely picky. I don't like smelling like anyone else. If it's something I recognize just by the smell then I'm like..bleh.. not interested. This was something I had to go and look up once I smelled it to find out why it was so enticing. Love it.

I have to agree with steffwhite.  It is sweet and smells like caramel.  I have an 18 year old daughter and she likes it.  I gave it 3 stars because my daughter likes it, though I don’t (I’m over 50).

I was hoping the fruity notes would come out more in this scent, but it doesn’t smell fruity to me at all. It’s very sweet...almost like caramel. I’m surprised at how much I like it! I had my 19 year old son smell it & he said, ‘that smells really good’. My 20 year old daughter loves it (the floral notes stand out to her), and my 47 year old hubby loves it too. Not what I expected, but pleasantly surprised.
